Electronic Certificate of Authority to Import

ELECTRONIC CERTIFICATE OF AUTHORITY TO IMPORT (eCAI) is a system which facilitates the submission and processing of the Certificate of Authority to Import, with automated validation of the importers as well as the items which are eligible for lower duty rates. The automated procedure lowers the cycle time and transaction costs, eliminating the need to physically submit CAI application and the printing of CAI in security paper with security strip, BOI dry seal and signature.

In addition, eCAI enables the Board of Investments to comply with requirements of the National Single Window on the electronic submission of permit data and one-time use of permits. The current CAI is valid for 3 months but can be used one time only for one import shipment provided that the total importation does not exceed the total approved quantities.
